Disneyland Paris

The Disney Stars on Parade is one of the most spectacular experiences Disneyland Paris has to offer. Every day, enormous floats carrying dozens of dancers, musicians and beloved Disney characters make their way along Main Street. But where’s the best place to stand? What time does the parade begin? And how do you secure a great spot? This complete KTW guide has everything you need to know.

What Is the Disney Stars on Parade?

The Disney Stars on Parade is the daily afternoon parade of Disneyland Park. The parade travels from Fantasyland along Main Street U.S.A. towards Town Square — a vibrant, colourful show featuring spectacular floats inspired by beloved Disney and Pixar films. From The Lion King to Frozen, from Pinocchio to Mickey Mouse, almost every major Disney name makes an appearance. The parade lasts on average 20 to 25 minutes.

What Time Does the Disney Stars on Parade Begin?

The start time varies by day and by season. During peak season (summer holidays, bank holidays and school breaks) the parade typically begins at 17:30. During quieter periods it may start at 17:00 or even 16:30. Always check the current times in the Disneyland Paris app, as schedules can change at short notice. On busier days, a second parade run is sometimes added.

Please note: on certain low-season days the parade may be delayed or cancelled due to weather conditions. Keep an eye on the app for live updates.

The Best Spots for the Disney Stars on Parade

The parade route runs from the Castle Stage (near Sleeping Beauty Castle) along Main Street U.S.A. to Town Square at the park exit. Each section of the route has its own advantages and considerations. Read on to find out where to position yourself.

Town Square (Entrance Area)

Town Square sits just inside the main entrance and is where the parade finishes, which means you’ll wait a little longer before the first float arrives. The advantage is that this area is often slightly less crowded than the middle of Main Street, and the floats sometimes slow down here. You can also head straight out of the park after the parade if you wish. This is a great spot for families with pushchairs or wheelchairs.

Middle of Main Street

The central stretch of Main Street, around Plaza Gardens and the shops, is the busiest section of the route — and one of the best. You’ll be right in the heart of the action, and the floats sometimes pause at certain points for an extra performance. Arrive at least 45 minutes early to secure a good spot, as this area is especially popular with families and larger groups.

Near the Castle

Close to Sleeping Beauty Castle, the parade is in full swing and you’ll have the castle as a stunning backdrop for your photos. It does get very busy here. Aim to find your spot as early as possible — 45 to 60 minutes before the start is strongly recommended. If you’re with young children, try to get a front-row position so little ones can see everything clearly.

Strategy: When Should You Claim Your Spot?

The golden rule with the parade is simple: the busier the day, the earlier you need to stake your claim. On a quieter low-season day, arriving 20 to 30 minutes beforehand is usually sufficient. On a busy summer day or during the Christmas holidays, it’s wise to take up your position 45 to 60 minutes in advance. Set a reminder on your phone based on the confirmed parade time in the app.

A handy approach is to combine your wait with a relaxed snack or drink. Find a spot along the route, settle comfortably on the kerb (which is perfectly fine) and enjoy the build-up. Many families bring a small blanket to sit on while they wait.

The Disney Stars on Parade: Which Floats Can You Expect?

The parade features an impressive procession of floats, each with its own theme and matching soundtrack. You can typically expect floats inspired by The Lion King, Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Frozen and of course Mickey Mouse and his friends. The floats are extraordinarily detailed, and the costumes worn by the dancers and performers are simply breathtaking.

Alongside the floats, performers also move through the crowd and pose for photos with guests. If you’re lucky, you might even walk alongside Mickey or Minnie for a moment — a truly magical experience for the youngest visitors.

Photography Tips for the Disney Stars on Parade

The parade offers wonderful photo opportunities. Here are a few practical tips for the best shots: aim to photograph in the late afternoon when the light is beautifully warm. Stand on the shaded side of the street so that the characters on the floats are nicely lit. Use portrait mode on your phone for a lovely bokeh effect. And remember — experiencing the moment in person comes first. Take a few great photos, but make sure you truly soak up the parade itself.

Is There an Evening Parade Too?

Alongside the daily afternoon parade, Disney Adventure World (formerly Walt Disney Studios Park) also hosts a spectacular evening show on the lake. This is not a traditional parade but a show featuring drones, fireworks and projections across the water. It’s a wonderful addition to — rather than a replacement for — the classic Stars on Parade.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Parade

Can I book reserved spots for the parade? For the regular Disney Stars on Parade there are no reserved places — positions are claimed on a first-come, first-served basis. During special seasonal parades (Halloween, Christmas) separate viewing stands or premium positions are sometimes available via Premier Access.

Are pushchairs allowed along the route? Yes, there is space along the sides of the route for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Recline the pushchair if you can, so children can still see over the crowds. Some parents also pop their little one on their shoulders for the best view.

Does the parade go ahead in the rain? In light rain the parade continues as normal — the Cast Members and floats are well prepared for a passing shower. In heavy rain or thunderstorms the parade will be cancelled. Check the app for live updates.
