Disneyland Paris Ride Height Restrictions: Your Guide

Gesponsord

Disneyland Paris

The minimum height for rides at Disneyland Paris often determines which adventures your family can enjoy together. Knowing the ride height restrictions in advance helps avoid disappointment at the entrance and ensures a day filled with smiles, not waiting. One question often lingers for many parents: will my child truly be able to join in?

Why are there height restrictions?

Height restrictions aren’t there to spoil the fun, but rather to ensure your child can safely fit into the ride vehicle. For faster rides and rollercoasters, a Cast Member will measure your child at the entrance with a height stick. If your child is just under the limit, they sadly won’t be able to ride yet. Here’s a golden tip: measure your child at home, with their shoes on, the day before you leave. This way, you’ll know exactly where you stand and won’t have to negotiate on the spot with a disappointed little one.

Rides with a Minimum Height

Below, you’ll find the minimum heights per ride, ordered from shortest to tallest. These heights apply across both parks: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park (which will transform into Disney Adventure World in the coming years).

Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris, a ride with a minimum height of 102 cm

From 81 cm

  • Autopia (to ride as a passenger) – Discoveryland
  • Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop – Walt Disney Studios Park

From 102 cm

  • Big Thunder Mountain – Frontierland
  • Star Tours: L’Aventure Continue – Discoveryland
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – Walt Disney Studios Park

From 107 cm

  • Crush’s Coaster – Walt Disney Studios Park

From 120 cm

  • RC Racer – Walt Disney Studios Park

From 132 cm

  • Autopia (to drive yourself) – Discoveryland
  • Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain – Discoveryland

From 140 cm

  • Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril – Adventureland

Please note: for the La Plage des Pirates playground, there is actually a maximum height of 140 cm. This area is specially designed for the little ones.

Good News: Many Rides Have No Height Restriction

The wonderful thing about Disneyland Paris is that most of the crowd favourites are open to everyone, regardless of height. Your whole family can step aboard classics like it’s a small world, Peter Pan’s Flight, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Le Carrousel de Lancelot, the Disneyland Railroad, Casey Jr., Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Phantom Manor. These richly themed attractions truly form the heart of a Disney day, so even with the littlest ones, you’ll experience a day full of magic.

Useful to Know About Age

Besides height, age recommendations sometimes apply too. For Star Tours, children between 3 and 7 years old must be accompanied by an adult, and the ride is not suitable for children under 3 years old. Crush’s Coaster is not recommended for children under 7 due to the spinning motion of the vehicles. For Indiana Jones (from 8 years old) and Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain (from 10 years old), a higher recommended age applies. If you’re unsure whether your child will brave a ride, calmly explain what happens and let your child choose for themselves.

What Does This Mean for Your Disneyland Paris Visit?

  • Measure your child at home, with shoes on, just before you leave.
  • Under 81 cm? No worries: dozens of rides are open to you.
  • Most classics (it’s a small world, Peter Pan, Dumbo) have no height restriction.
  • Alternate between gentle and thrilling rides, ensuring every family member gets to enjoy themselves.
  • If in doubt: ride it yourself first and then decide if it’s suitable for your child.

In Conclusion

A visit to Disneyland Paris with young children is absolutely wonderful, as long as you know in advance which rides are suitable for your family. This height guide will help you avoid surprises and keep smiles on everyone’s faces. Believe in your own magic, and let no one tell you your dreams are too big – not even your smallest travel companion.
